Chen Wei is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Rice University and a Member of Technical Staff at AMI Labs. Her work centers on building artificial intelligence systems, combining academic research with the development of advanced machine intelligence.
Before joining Rice and AMI Labs, Chen was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Meta. Her earlier experience includes serving as a Student Researcher at Google DeepMind and completing research internships at Meta, Facebook, and Google, as well as an Engineer Practicum internship at Google. This trajectory has given her experience across both university research and several of the world’s leading AI organizations.
Chen earned her PhD in computer science from Johns Hopkins University and her bachelor’s degree in computer science from Peking University. Her background combines rigorous academic training, industrial research, and engineering experience in developing AI systems.
