Pedro O. Pinheiro is a member of technical staff at AMI Labs in New York, where he joined in September 2026. His career spans research positions in the United States, Canada, and Switzerland, bringing experience from both academic institutions and industry.

Before joining AMI, Pinheiro was a principal research scientist on Genentech’s Prescient Design team from November 2022 to August 2026. Previously, he worked as a research scientist at Toronto-based Deep Genomics and spent more than three years at Element AI in Montreal.

Pinheiro holds a doctorate in electrical engineering from the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from INSA Lyon. Earlier in his career, he worked as a research assistant at Switzerland’s Idiap Research Institute from 2013 to 2017. He also collaborated with Facebook AI, initially as a research intern in Menlo Park in 2015 and subsequently as a remote, part-time research collaborator through July 2016.
